Playing Hooky
3 & 4 March,8pm
4 March, 3pm It’s the start of another school day, children arrive, meet their friends, chatter and play. The bell rings, time for class, the journey of learning and new discoveries begins afresh. Playing Hooky celebrates childhood, creativity and companionship. Created by dancer-choreographer Pierre-Paul Savoie, it uses texts by French writer Jacques Prévert (1900-1977) whose poems, familiar to almost every French schoolchild and adult, have been turned into recording hits by such stars as Edith Piaf, Serge Gainsbourg, Joan Baez and Nat King Cole. His film scripts include many long regarded as classics of French cinema, most famously Les Enfants du Paradis, one of the most popular and celebrated movies of all time. As founder and dancer-choreographer, Pierre-Paul Savoie has led PPS Danse to become a pillar of Quebec’s vibrant dance community. |
