It also draws on concepts from Yi Jing (the Book of Change), including evolution and interactions of the five elements (metal, wood, water, fire and earth). Employing traditional yangge props, such as baldachins, drums, sticks and fans, and the specific body language and dance movement associated with them, the ethnic dance performance traces past and present, heaven and earth in a continuum with men.
