Jane Eyre

A new theatrical adaptation of Jane Eyre, the beloved novel by Charlotte Brontë, adapted and directed by AFTEC Emerging Director 2016 Michael Sharmon, and performed by a cast of professional and young actors.

Orphaned at 10, Jane Eyre is sent to live with her aunt who despises her. Strong and outspoken, the young girl tries to rise up against this. Not knowing what to do with her, her aunt sends her to a boarding school where she meets the sympathetic Miss Temple, who inspires her to become a teacher. Jane often dreams of a world where women can have the same opportunities as men, and when she finishes her education, she advertises and gets a position as the Governess of a young French girl at Thornfield Hall where she meets the mysterious Mr Edward Rochester. The attraction between Jane and Rochester is almost immediate but Rochester has a secret that he hides from the world. . . Will this secret ruin Jane’s chances of happiness?

Dance “IN” Possible V: 101

April 23-24, 8pm and 5pm on Sunday

Dance “IN” Possible series can be a reflection of the exploration and rethink towards dance by Victor, Choi-wo Ma and Mandy Ming-yin Yim who explore through dance in their various eras.  Dance “IN” Possible series started in 1999 and four series have been staged.

The new production Dance “IN” Possible V :101 shall be staged in April 2016. Victor and Mandy are both over 50 years old (their ages add up to 101 years old).  To this end, they hope to make retrospection for reviewing their dance career, and invited persons who have left a mark on their trails or affected them to collaborate in the creative work.  The participants include artists and friends from various media; together with Victor and Mandy, they will jointly create the production and search for the possibility of 101 kinds of ‘dance’!

The unconventional, exotic and oriental sense of fashion in a non-traditional manner showed their rebellion and the incompatibility towards the society.Musician, Dancers and Singers together with other artists were the main protagonists of an alternative lifestyle, the evolution of an artistic way of living. 

A story of Love, Jealousy and Tragedy, with their rebellious spirit of Freedom, against any common behaviour… Nevertheless, The Show Must Go On...
