5 Great Holiday Plays

With it being Christmas time I'm thinking of all the awesome plays that could play in Hong Kong and be a rousing success. Someone should get the rights to these and perform them soon. It would be awesome. *hint hint* Although, we would be in need of plenty of cute child actors to take on some pivotal roles. What's a Christmas movie without an adorable kid in it? Dickens' A Christmas Carol is not on the list because I think it has been done to death. A bad community theatre production of the Carol is enough to drive this blogger to "holiday related" suicide.
1) The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
My personal favorite kids book about Christmas. It tells the story of some very naughty children who put on the biggest ramshackle of a nativity scene EVER with a ham starring as the baby Jesus. But it has a wonderful moral to its story and everyone loves a production of it.
2) White Christmas
Yes, they made a musical out of it. And as a bonus it's actually not very expensive to produce. I personally love this Christmas movie. I think it would be a big success in Hong Kong as everyone loves the music of Bing Crosby and it's very family friendly.
3) A Christmas Story
I'm talking about the straight play version that's currently available, not the abomination of a musical that was on Broadway last year. It tells the story of Ralphie who really wants a bee bee gun for Christmas in the thirties and his parents who are darn sure he's going to "shoot his eye out".
4) Heidi
My favorite scene in the book is the Christmas scene where her Grandpa travels to go find her. Because the book is royalty free you can actually adapt it yourself if you want, allowing you greater flexibility in casting and sets (always a thing to worry about in HK).
5) It's a Wonderful Life
They also made a stage play out of this classic. A beloved holiday staple on TVs around the world, it would be a big success if someone decided to produce it here. Everyone would love to see Clarence take George on his journey. Once again you would probably need some pretty cute kids for this play. Especially for that classic line, "Teacher says..."
