24-11-15
Hong Kong Arts Festival was first launched in 1973. They're dedicated to enriching the cultural life of the city by presenting art in February and March with leading local and international artists in all genres of the performing arts, as well as a diverse range of extra events.
HKAF is a non-profit organization. The estimated budget for the 2016 Festival is around HK$110 million, which is a huge amount if you think about it. Hong Kong Arts Festival presents top international artists and ensembles to the people of HK.
In the past 24 years, their "Young Friends" program has reached over 700,000 secondary and tertiary school students in Hong Kong that wouldn't normally get to attend the theatre. Donations to the "Student Ticket Scheme" also make available about 8,000 half-price student tickets each year. They are still accepting donations at this time for the 2016 festival.
In recent years HKAF has organised a diverse range of "Festival PLUS" activities in community locations each year to enhance the engagement between artists and audiences. These include lecture demonstrations, master classes, workshops, symposia, backstage visits, exhibitions, meet-the-artist sessions, and guided tours.
Here's the 6 shows that will definitely sell out in the current Hong Kong Arts Festival lineup. Pre-book your seats now via their website.
