CoLab Launches in Hong Kong

Actors and artists looking for a new way to reach new talent pools beyond meetup, alivenotdead and facebook can rejoice, because local artist, Stephanie Lown has found a new way to promote Hong Kong's art scene. CoLab is a free collaborative platform and talent directory dedicated to connecting talent worldwide. Members can profile their skills, post notices on the notice board and find other members to ‘Connect, CoLaborate and Create’ with using the unique clipboard functionality.
CoLab was created by Stephanie Lown with the help of Alex Moorhouse, after the two met in acting class. Stephanie developed the idea, having always wanted to pursue a career in the Film & TV industry, but was disheartened at the lack of opportunities and support for young emerging talent. She made it her mission to change the status quo and develop a creative culture where members could make full use of their abilities.
According to Stephanie: “I was constantly being told ‘people don’t pursue a career in acting, it should just be a hobby’ or ‘it’s not what you know but WHO you know’. This was hard to take as all I had ever wanted to be was an actress. Consequently, I went to University instead of pursuing my dream of acting, but the burning desire to act was always there.”
“After completing my degree, I just thought to myself ‘I have to pursue this no matter what’. I moved to London, where I started training and getting as much experience as I could on and off set, and I had never been happier despite being away from everything I knew... I really wanted to... provide as much support and encouragement for both professionals and young emerging talent, and it brings me so much joy to be able to share CoLab with my hometown, Hong Kong, first!”
People can sign up for free by registering at their website. Over the coming months there will be a number of CoLab events and initiatives across Hong Kong so check back for more details. CoLab will also continue to develop in line with artist feedback throughout the Beta phase before going global later in the year. They recently had their soft launch and South Island School's Innovation 2015.
