This week we were invited to the media picnic for Freespace Fest at the West Kowloon Arts District. This is the second year that the festival will be happening in HK. 20,000 people attended the festival last year. Outdoor theatre experiences are few and far between in this city and Freespace Fest was invented to get the people outdoors, enjoying art and the beautiful city around them. The festival will be happening next month on December 14th and 15th.

You can register for tickets online at this link. You can print out your QR code and bring it to the Arts District on the day or you can bring the ticket on your smart phone or tablet.
The festival will have shows of all kinds of medium. They'll have circus performers from Australia, Roving Theatre from local theatre group All Theatre Arts Association, Parkour, Breakdancing, Music, Spoken word and much more. You can find out more about the programs being offered and the performers, here. You can also take free workshops during the festival from several talented masters. Workshop times can be found at the festival website. You don't need to pre-register for workshops.
They considered last year's show a kind of "experiment". They weren't sure if people were going to embrace the concept of free, outdoor art but the response was overwhelmingly positive. This year they're expecting more people to show up and enjoy the catalog of performances and workshops. Running the festival last year gave them a great perspective on how to make the festival bigger, better and more enjoyable for the whole family.
We're super-pumped about the festival. We can't wait to sit down on a picnic blanket and enjoy the performances around us. We hope to see you there!
