Coming Soon... Kidsfest 2013
Mommies and Daddies looking for something fun to do with the kids in these cold months may want to look into ABA's Kidsfest! It was a raging success last year. This year ABA Productions is bringing in five different productions for kids of various ages. They have Room on the Broom and The Gruffalo for the youngsters in your families. They have more advanced things like Barmy Britain and Ruthless Romans for teens. These pieces try to make history fun and are in the same vein as William Shakespeare, Abridged.
Going to the live theatre is something every kid should have the pleasure of experiencing. These shows are great intros to theatre shows as they are shows built for kids' short attention spans and silly senses of humor. When I spoke with one of the cast members he assured me that even parents would find themselves laughing in parts. "It's intelligent children's entertainment," said the man in the large Gruffalo costume.
Parents worried about the ticket price should be aware of some ticket discounts. You can get discounts on tickets by purchasing tickets in bulk or by buying tickets to multiple shows. (These discounts do not apply to internet bookings, you need to buy them at the box office.) Kidsfest is also running a ticket giveaway on their Facebook page right now, check it out.
ABA has a history of bringing in quality children's shows to town. Parents looking for something that not only entertains but educates will surely be pleased with what they have to offer. We've had the pleasure of seeing some of their past offerings and were very impressed with the quality of the production values and meaningful story teling. See our review of The Snail in the Whale from last fall!
Kidsfest 2013 is playing at the Academy of Performing Arts from January 16th to February 17th. For more information click here and to see the dates of the individual performances, check out our what's on calendar.
