Freespace Fest

  11-12-12

Coming this weekend to the West Kowloon Arts District is Freespace Fest. According to organizers, "It will consist of three performance venues: the Music Box, the Freespace Theatre, the Outdoor Stage, and a Great Lawn. During Friday and Saturday Freespace will be oriented towards community-based events." Wanting to bring the community together with performances without having to worry about silly things like rent- sounds like a plan to me!

High costs of venues is a big complaint amongst local artists and Freespace Fest gave them a chance to sign up and show their stuff to people without having to worry about how much it'll cost them as artists. It has performances by dance companies, circus artists, street performers and live musicians. Think of it as a large open air concert with multiple mediums in attendance.

Best thing of all is that it's free to attend for the public as well. You do need to reserve your spot though. Sign up for e-tickets via http://register.freespace.hk Tickets need to be brought in via tablet/smart phone or printed. There is also no age limitation on Freespace Fest making it a fun family event. They also encourage picnicking - so bring a blanket, basket and snuggle down with some loved ones!
