Live with Lizzy!- Outlook Festival Launch Party
10-8-15
One of our fabulous critics, Laurella Jose, loves hearing live music and seeing local bands play. We've had the demand to cover the music scene in Hong Kong for years but didn't have a passionate, music lover with the skills to take it on. We present a new series to HKELD called, Live with Lizzy!
Lizzy will be talking to us weekly about music events she attends, Hong Kong's developing indie scene and bands she loves.

Being the biggest Soundsystem and Bass Music Culture festival in Europe, Outlook Festival hosts launch parties as a world tour spanning five continents that counts down the festival held in Croatia this September. Hong Kong, being no stranger to the underground movement that has unearthed itself, held the launch last weekend in Whitehead Barbecue on Ma On Shan – underground in its own respect, a great distance from good old Lan Kwai Fong and everywhere else you’re used to. With a fantastic view of Tolo Harbour, the summer heat and a single stage someone should have officially commenced the selfies.
The party was chill. It demanded chill. The view, the hula hoops, the weird little mouth harps. But I mean, let’s talk music. Here’s my ‘you gotta check them out' from Outlook Fest.
His set was the right spark to the night getting started with devilishly sick drops that seemed to keep in time with the setting fireball in the sky. He kept it light -playing with a variety of genres reggae, dancehall, hip-hop and soul, this Hong Kong based Kenyan knows how to set it up.
As soon as they started my head was digging it. I could tell (it was doing this bobbing thing). It took a while to figure out though that this dude was dealing Cantonese beats. It was nothing short of dope. Sensi Lion is breaking walls, spreading love as the world’s only band singing Cantonese Reggae. Check them out.
