I found out over the weekend that a very good friend of mine from college became a published novelist in the US. I am so happy for him. So happy I could burst. I can remember doing some pretty crazy things with you back in the days when we were young and silly. So few of us as artists get "the dream". He got his and I'm so pleased that after all of his hard work, his dream came true. I know working in the field of the arts that we are often beaten down by our mentors with horror stories of the real world. We're told that success is one in a million. I learned over the weekend of one of the successes. It does happen, people. It's not a unicorn! And you know how he did it? He busted his ass every single day. People told him no... a lot. People slammed the door in his face, told him he would never suceed and he did it!
I wish I could be back in Georgia to go to the book signings and hear him read it aloud. I'm sure it's fabulous. I'll have to wait for it to be published internationally. So, today is your day, man! Congrats! I'm sure things will only go up from here. I'm sharing this tale not to rub a person's success in other's faces but to show it does happen with hard work, dedication to your craft and passion.
And will you succeed?
