Puuung Inspires the World with Love
31-7-15
We’re all so used to the stories of love in the movies — sending love letters every single day for ten years, leaving one’s entire life behind, running through an airport, proposals in a limo or at a fancy bistro. But what about the everyday normal love that we all experience?
Korean artist Puuung is dedicated on changing the narrative.
“Love is something that everybody can relate to. And Love comes in ways that we can easily overlook in our daily lives. So, I try to find the meaning of love in our daily lives and make it into artwork.”
Puuung is an illustrator based out of South Korea. She was recently overwhelmed with a ton of internet attention for her prints and started a Kickstarter campaign to bring her digital works to life.
“I have loved drawing since I was a child. I am not a good speaker, but I feel as if I can express whatever I want, and say it very calmly through the medium of illustration.I entered university as an animation major but I was not one of the best artists. So, I worked hard. And then I realized one day that I should at least draw one drawing that was just for me. I started to ask the question “Maybe I’m working too hard. Am I really happy?” I decided to draw at least one drawing for myself every day. I started to draw things I like, such as architecture and people around me, which inspired the idea for my current “Love is…” series.”
With her beautiful hand-drawn illustrations, Puuung reminds us that when it comes to love, it’s the little things that matter and that following your dreams takes hard work.
Puuung’s works can be found for sale on her grafolio. You can also find her work on her Facebook page. New paintings are posted weekly. Support her Kickstarter campaign for a few more days and get the first editions of her prints!
