With all of the sequins and bangles and glitter they could find, the Queens (and a few Kings) of the night hit the town at Volume’s Beat in Sheung Wan. In true form, the evening that was meant to begin at 10:00pm didn’t really get going until nearly midnight. But when they arrived, they arrived in style. Hong Kong’s second annual Drag Overdose really brought it with fun and fabulousness.
Most of the patrons who came through the front door were greeted by the larger than life presence of Lovely Cox who was dressed from head to toe in a 70’s throwback orange jump suit complete with a sequined cape and 6 inch platforms. We were also graced by the presence of Mimi, Moira, Celeste, Fabiola and numerous others all with their very own unique presence and personalities. And, of course, we can’t forget the dominating presence of Hong Kong’s own La Chiquitta who hosted the evening with true style (with that tiara, how could she miss?).
The evening didn’t feature any grand performances or grand event, although there was a performance by two “Drag Kings”, Kim and Inez, and all of the ladies with their 5 inch stilettos and 8 inch hairdos took the stage to dance alongside the men of ManHunt. According to La Chiquitta, the evening wasn’t about doing a show; it was about “getting all of the performers together in one place”. Many of these grand ladies perform in venues throughout Hong Kong, including Bisous.
This will be an annual event that brings all of these wondrous Queens together and celebrates the diversity, individuality and uniqueness in us all. Be sure to come out next year and enjoy the fun and fabulosity!

Wish we could see the queens perform so we could actually vote for the queens based on talent. It's one thing to be beautiful but part of being a queen is talent and that special spark. Hopefully next year we can see them "lip sync for their lives"
