Review-Circo Veneziano-The Venetian

You may have been to the Venetian many times before but never heard of this entertainment option. Circo Veneziano is a circus act that performs at the Venetian daily on a rotation and is free to attend for guests of the hotel. They also perform street acts in the shopping area of the hotel and provide full corporate shows for those that book them privately. They consist of three main acts: Cubo, Hand to Hand and Mago.
Cubo is a large steel cube that is about 4 feet in dimension. The performer balances the cube on his head, feet, hands and uses the cube as a balancing point for himself. The performer, Antonio, had wonderful expression. When I had an opportunity to feel the cube afterward I could tell it was quite heavy, I could lift it- let alone balance the corner on my forehead!
Mago is magic- both the David Copperfield and Blane style. The performer did not give his name but was very good at performing and interacting with the children around him. He was bilingual in both Chinese and English and very good at encouraging people to join in the performance. I think his card tricks were his strong suit, they had good flare to them. His slight of hand was a bit sloppy near the end but I think I was the only who noticed. The children were totally enchanted by him and lined up for pictures.
Hand to hand is body building based acrobatics. Two very handsome men support each other's weight and suspend off of one another like in a Cirque du Soleil act. They're very strong and beautiful to watch. Franz and Hanz have been partners for over 5 years at the Venetian and work well together. They aren't given a lot of space to work with but this makes their tricks more creative.
Overall, Circo Veneziano is a great little show for kids to enjoy while Mommy and Daddy go play in the more adult pleasures of Macau. The show is about 30 minutes in length- they won't be bored and they encourage photo taking with the cast. It's also free, which is nice. When you're loosing money to the house- it's nice to find cheap ways to entertain the family.
