Theatre Game of the Week #39

Release the Hounds is my go to game at the end of a long day and the classroom needs to be cleaned. This is an arduous task that no student wants to participate in but sometimes after you've been trapped in a classroom for 5-6 hours the room can be a wreck. I use this game to make returning the classroom to its original state fun.

Step 1) Everyone pairs up with a partner. One is the Hound, and one is the Hunter. The Hound shares its bark with the Hunter: give everyone 30 seconds for this.

Step 2) Yell “Release the Hounds!” or blow a trumpet  -  the Hounds run around trying to find all the trash in the room, while the Hunters stay where they are.

Step 3) Once a hound finds a piece of trash, they cannot touch it and must bark as loudly as possible. Only when the Hunter hears their Hound barking can they go to that spot to pick it up. Other Hounds can bark at the same object as well, therefore making a race between the Hunters.

This game can have several goals, like you must be the first to collect 4 pieces, etc.

You can make the reward for the game that they don't have to put the desks back or that they get to clean the board. Kids always like cleaning the board.

In the end) Kids have worked as a team and have helped you clean the classroom. After a long day at work, it's greatly appreciated!
