Udderbelly's Purple Cow Comes to HK

  16-12-15

Last night HKELD was invited to the Gala Night at the Udderbelly Festival. It was a fun evening of food, drinks and they allowed us a sneak peek of several of the shows that will be happening over the next few weeks. You might have seen the cow but wondered... What is Udderbelly?

Udderbelly is a UK-based live entertainment company that runs several festivals and events across the world. Founded in 2000 by directors Ed Bartlam and Charlie Wood to operate one venue at the Edinburgh Festival, Underbelly has grown to include festivals in Scotland, England and now HK. Through Udderbelly Productions, they hope to also produce and promote live shows for UK and international touring. Udderbelly also produces large scale events.

Udderbelly is all about entertainment for the public. In 2014, over 1 million people bought tickets to their shows and attractions, and "Violet" the purple cow is now an icon of the theatre scene in the UK.

Between now and February 14th there will be 200 shows happening in the purple cow at the Central Harbourfront. These shows include circus, physical theatre, stand up, shows for kids and big kids, mime, magic, and traditional theatre. The HK Players Panto recently closed at the cow and now we're into the full festival lineup. There are shows on all major HK holidays, including Christmas and Chinese New Year, making it a great option for families.
