Founded in 1976 by Pierre Boulez, the late composer and contributor to contemporary music, one of the world’s most revered ensembles specialising in music of our time makes its long-due Hong Kong début, performing Schoenberg’s revolutionary Chamber Symphony No. 1, which also serves as an inspiration for Ligeti’s densely constructed Chamber Concerto. Donatoni’s Tema, one of the Ensemble’s favourites, is a powerfully organic work of fragments and their continuity.  Also on the programme are Les Danses interrompues by Mantovani and Whirling Tissue of Light by the Ensemble's music director and conductor Matthias Pintscher.
