In the story of "Disaster in Zhao's House", Zhao Shuo, a nobleman in the Dukedom of Jin, was framed by Tu’an Gu, his political enemy. Zhao Shuo and all his 300 family members are killed except Zhao’s orphan Zhao Wu, who is hidden and secretly brought up. He avenged his family’s death after growing up. History commentaries like Shi Ji, Zuo Zhuan, Operas of Yuan Dynasty recorded different versions of the story. Therefore, no one is able to identify the truth of the story. Without settings, props and deluxe costumes, the performers in L’Orphelin tell their alternative version of the classic story, solely with their bodies.
