Depicting a late Qing dynasty historical mystery, The Emperor, his Mom, a Eunuch and a Man premiered in early 2013 to enthusiastic acclaims. A refreshing new interpretation by playwright Paul Poon and director Roy Szeto of a well-known historical legend, its ingenious plot development, quirky set design, fantastically nuanced and effective performances make it a true theatrical tour de force. Returning by popular demand, the 2014 production is poised to serve up another historical storm of power struggles and intrigues.
