Preview- 365 Ways of Doing and Undoing Orientalism- CCDC19-6-15
The East, not surely by tradition or cultural prospective, usually refers to Asia and the West for Europe and America. What do you correlate when coming across the East? Calligraphy, Buddha, Feng Shui, bowls, chopsticks, Mandarin gowns, martial arts, long sleeves, dragons, meditation and yoga?
Letter to the Editor16-6-15
We were sent a Letter to the Editor over the weekend in regards to a performance of The Sound of Music on Saturday... We were asked to publish it by the author and open a forum on the topic of audience etiquette and age restrictions for tickets. We have published articles on this subject in the past and hope this will lead to meaningful discussion between the artist and the audience.
5 Cafes in Hong Kong with Free Wifi15-6-15
In Hong Kong space is limited and as starving artists we need to be precious with our funding. The world can be your office as a performer and meetings are a big part of being an artist. Where to have those meetings can be a challenge in HK- especially if you're new in town. Free, unlimited wifi isn't as common in Hong Kong as you think it would be. (SHOULD BE!)
Be a Pod Person!11-6-15
Over the summer we're going to expand and diversify our podcast to include more topics and change the format to be a round table discussion on life in Hong Kong.

We had a chance to sit down and talk with Charlie from the Sunbeam Theatre. Sunbeam is the oldest theatre in Hong Kong and dedicated to the preservation of Cantonese Opera. Charlie is a Faa Daan, or the female love interest. She is in her fifties and still playing an ingenue type… Close to retirement and moving into the teaching side of art; we were honored to talk with her and hear about what it is like to be an Opera superstar.

Preview- Figaro- Aurora Theatre29-5-15
For the past three years, director/productor Nicole Garbellini and local playwright Peter Gordon have been teaming up to present an opera reinvented for Hong Kong audiences. Last year was Don Yuan, the year before it was Duetto. This year they present Figaro, which is not exactly an opera per se… With humour and satirical commentary, de Beaumarchais’s "The Barber of Seville" was an immediate sensation across Europe in the late 1700s. "Figaro" resets the play in modern Hong Kong, where classic French farce meets Asia’s world city. This play later inspired the operas of the same name that became more famous.
