Review-Utopia-LCSD20-4-13
It was Friday night at Sha Tin Town Hall Auditorium. The theatre was packed; the audience buzzing, waiting for the first of only two shows that Maria Pages and Company would be performing in Hong Kong. It seemed I was not the only Flamenco fan here tonight.
Review-Otherhood-Not So Loud19-4-13
Curtain up: women sit side-by-side, completely absorbed by their iPhones. How very Hong Kong!
Review-Last Days of Judas Iscariot-Aurora Theatre11-4-13
I want to see more of Satan. This rare epiphany will ring true for scores of theatregoers this weekend at the McAulay Studio. Alex Sommerville’s terrific performance as the Angel of Darkness is a highlight in The Last Days of Iscariot, a court drama of Judas’ trial in Hope, a town in Purgatory.

Here's the list of shows we're going to be sending our critics to in April.
Review-Delicious Performance-Bi Bap30-3-13
Everyone knows I love a good free show. I was excited to read in the paper about Bi Bap. "Bi Bap is a Korean dance show that was based on harmony and centered around the Korean dish, Bibimbap." I am a deep lover of Korean culture and food. So I went down to Harbour City to check it out.
Review-Liars' League-Fairytales & Nightmares26-3-13
Liars' League came back with a bang last night. Lovers of new writing braved the rain and traveled to Shek Tong Tsui at Les Boules. It's a hip new French bar with patanqe and a huge amount of space in it. Perfect for Liars' League. Everyone got a seat this time, unlike last month when we were packed in like passengers in steerage.
Review-Green Snake-Hong Kong Arts Fest22-3-13
In ‘Snakes & Ladders’, the snakes are the ones that bring you down from a great height. ‘Green Snake’ does this too, in more ways than one – some good, some not so good.
Review-#HKproblems_theplay-Beating Heart22-3-13
To experience this play, two things must be explained. First, that this place is terribly hard to find and even the cast knows it. Five minutes into the show, Meaghan McGurgan, co-writer and actress on #HKproblems_theplay voices the question everyone had asked themselves at one point or another tonight, “Where the f*** is Beating Heart?”
Review-Il Marito Disperato-Hong Kong Arts Fest17-3-13
For ‘Momix-Bothanica’ (also running this week) our reviewer recommended you sit in the cheap seats to get the bigger picture. ‘Il Marito Disperato’ is a show to mortgage your jewellery and take to the stalls. I sat at the back of the upper circle and, whilst feeling great goodwill for and from the show, could never engage, comedically or emotionally otherwise. Instead, I repeatedly drifted off and was snapped back each time to what I might be missing by laughter from the fortunate folks below.
Review-The Emperor, his Mom, a Eunuch and a Man-Hong Kong Rep17-3-13
There is no doubt that The Emperor, his Mom, a Eunuch and a Man, written by Paul Poon and directed by Roy Szeto, is a great play. All the elements are there: the intrigue, the power struggle, even the undercurrents of an analogy to modern day politics. I only had one question at the end of the show. How much of it was accurate?
