And why is this site called HKELD?
Nominees-Best Design12-8-14
Designers are an integral part of the theatrical experience that often go under appreciated. We wanted to give special props to them by having a design category. *duh dum cha* Of course, the design world is very diverse and we would have loved to have different categories for the different kinds of design but it just wasn't possible. So we just stuck all the various types of design into one category for this year. This doesn't mean we don't love designers... We love you very much. Please keep designing our sets and lighting our stages.
Hecklers Announcement!10-8-14
Over the past 72 hours we've had a large number of fraudulent votes come in from overseas. (Hundreds of ballots coming in, who are just voting for one singular person on the ballot and obviously have no knowledge of the quality of the performances.)
Nominees-Best Original Work8-8-14
All of the shows nominated in this category are nominated for creating brand new shows from the ground up. Making a world premiere is no easy task and new work should be celebrated. They're a little bit harder to sell, they're a little bit harder to rehearse but it's very rewarding to know you're the first one to do this production. Congrats to all artists involved with these productions; we know they must have been a challenge!
Confessions of a Hong Kong Artist 37-8-14
Three weeks ago we put up a post about our "Confessions of a Hong Kong Artist" series. We put up a page on our tumblr account where artists could confess their sins anonymously. We were overwhelmed with the amount of entries we received and continue to receive daily. We welcome confessions from any type of artist and even former Hong Kong artists that are currently residing in other countries.
Nominees- Best Dance Show6-8-14
Dance shows are really difficult to create and produce. Don't underestimate the amount of talent and skill it takes to create a fabulous dance production. What's great about this year's nominees is that we have different styles and mediums of dance from break dancing to ballet to modern and pieces with small and large budgets. It's also nice to see world premiere shows and new choreographers nominated for their work in HK's world of dance. New work should be celebrated.

We are always hearing people talk about the problems in Hong Kong. Whether it's political problems, social issues or art problems, it's easy to complain and point out things that are going wrong. What's difficult is finding or thinking of ways to fix things. So we decided we want to do just that...
Nominees- Best Charity Production4-8-14
This is one of our favorite categories for the Hecklers. All of these productions were fantastic but made even better by the fact that they were aiming to do the greater good. It's wonderful to recognize artists for raising money for charity through their crafts. As artists, we may not be rich in money, but we are rich in our hearts...
